I’m Akintunde Kuye!

I am a British citizen of a Black heritage from Western-Africa. I am a graduate of the Imperial College London. I studied at the School of Centre for Environmental Policy. My major is in Environmental Technology with Integrated Water Management and my background is in Geology and Environmental Hazards. My work involves using geoscientist knowledge to provide environmental solutions through identification of problems and detecting viable solutions that drives policy change.

My main hobby is reading, searching for knowledge through various mediums like outdoors into nature, watching series of documentaries, learning about new scientific innovations.

I like cooking - my kitchen is my laboratory where I can experiment with great dishes.

Environmental Technological applications in Polar science inspires me as it provides sustainable solutions to dire environmental issues. Being a Polar explorer rewards with an opportunity to dive into the past and understand how it affects the present and be able to predict into the future. It helps to open up the unknown to carve the known. Polar explorer supports in protecting the planet.

The first time I made a personal connection with polar exploration was with the UK Polar Horizon program. It was an excellent program that supported my interests in Polar science.

The organizers went a step further by providing mentors for the attendees of the program. I am proud to say that to date, I am still in constant touch with my then mentor and he has positively supported my developments. I look forward to learning more in polar science and I am eager to contribute distinct innovative ideas for its developments.

I have not visited the polar region yet. As for my intention to further my academic research in polar science, my loved ones think it is very thoughtful to engage in such an upcoming scientific quest. In the future, I hope to work on research that uses remote sensing tools to understand and predict the environmental hazards likely to be a reoccurrence in the polar region due to exposure to effects of climate change and how this can be mitigated  through environmental protection policies.

My cultural background is ethnically West African, it has wealth of culture and beliefs with languages that are diverse and unique to each community.

Focus, consistency, perseverance, diligence, and belief in yourself. Do not let anyone put you down. Do not be afraid to seek knowledge. Do not limit your horizon, the sky only is the limit, and always ask for help, clarification, support, and guidance whenever required.
