I’m Meghana Ranganathan!
I'm Meghana Ranganathan, and I'm a graduate student at MIT. I'm interested in fast-flowing glaciers in West Antarctica, in hopes of one day improving our ability to predict how much ice Antarctica will lose due to climate change.
I grew up In Dallas, Texas where there was pretty much no ice, but I really loved storytelling and science and how climate science connects human stories with the natural sciences. I always imagined that I'd become a journalist or someone that reported on big science news, not a scientist myself (mostly because I HATED math in school).
Then I learned about how beautiful glaciers are, how cool math actually is, and how important the problem of sea-level rise will be in the coming decades. I love that I get to come to work and feel like I'm doing something important!

Outside of science, I love to read and write fiction. I spend a crazy amount of time scouring best books lists and after work I work on novels. I'd love one day to write a book about a glaciologist out to save the world!
