I’m Shannon Harewood-Malone!

I’m a keen glaciologist with a focus on ice dynamics, currently enrolled in the University of Sheffield Geography Polar and Alpine Change course.

As the first person in my family to go to university I couldn’t be more grateful for the doors my research has opened for me, and the places it’s taken me to!

I grew up with my Mom and Nan in Birmingham, who helped me to become the woman I am today. Outside of my love for science, I have a passion for writing, film, the outdoors and whatever caribbean food my nan’s cooking up that weekend!

Update: Shannon’s feature was originally written in May 2020; She has since graduated with Distinction from her MS program! Shannon carried the modeling skills she learned during her dissertation over into a journey in industry, where she currently works as a graduate hydraulic modeler.
