ZAROVNYAEV
Hailing from the icy region of Yakutia, Fedos Zarovnyaev is a gifted artist and educator who captures the essence of his homeland through his artwork. With a deep appreciation for the stories and traditions of the North, he weaves these narratives into his creations, inviting viewers to embark on a journey through the captivating landscapes and cultural heritage of Yakutia." Yakutia, also known as the Sakha Republic, is a vast and remote region located in the northeastern part of Russia. It is the largest federal subject in Russia and covers a significant portion of the Siberian and Far Eastern territories. Yakutia is known for its extreme cold temperatures, with some of the coldest inhabited places on Earth found within its borders.
Alongside Royal Museums Greenwich, we organised an artist-led workshop with local schoolchildren in South London. These workshops encouraged young talents to envision and create their own postcards depicting the future of polar exploration.
The children's remarkable artworks were proudly displayed in an exhibition at the prestigious National Maritime Museum, Greenwich for the public and the children themselves to admire. This exhibition was not just a celebration of art but also an opportunity to showcase the potential of young artists and explorers.
To take the excitement up a notch, an art competition was held, and the winning artworks were sent to the faraway Penguin Post Office in Antarctica!
The winners were Sophie C, Ladislav S and Aylah C.
