In essence, Polar Portals is a bridge, connecting the dreams of young artists, scientists, and explorers with the breathtaking landscapes of the polar regions. It's a testament to the power of art and education in shaping the future and inspiring the next generation of polar enthusiasts.
From Little Hands to Icy Lands…
In October 2022, we organised a special visit for two classes of school children to the Royal Museum Greenwich. There, they had personalised tours focusing on the diverse history of polar exploration.
Back at their school, we brought in an artist facilitator who coordinated a workshop where the children designed and created their own postcards, envisioning 'the future of polar science and exploration.' Many of these postcards featured themselves working on polar science-based careers.
Their incredible artworks formed an exhibition at the National Maritime Museum, and we invited the children, their families and school to visit for a special event.
We also held a competition showcasing their artworks, and the winning pieces have been selected to exhibit at the Penguin Post Office in Antarctica.
This educational and artistic journey has not only ignited youthful passions but has also unveiled the captivating world of polar exploration, showcasing the boundless possibilities when science and art intertwine.
