I'm Melinda Odum, a civil engineer with love for the sea. I visited Antarctica as part of the team delivering the new wharf. I have an MSc in Environmental Coastal Engineering from the University of Southampton & a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of the West Indies.

Although I have family living in every other continent of the world, my family was pretty alarmed when I told them I was going to Antarctica. They got used to the idea & are immensely proud, especially my two sons. I loved sharing my experiences with their friends at school.

I am proud to be a BAME engineer and promote STEM with the younger generation.
