I’m Sabiya!

Hi, I’m Sabiya & I am a recent Ecology grad. I volunteered with @PolarPrem & @BAS_News on the seals from space project to count seals and map their sea ice habitats using satellite images.

I first became interested in polar wildlife while I was an intern at a seabird centre where I assisted with rehabilitation of a few sub-antarctic seabirds like albatrosses & giant petrels. My other research interests are using wildlife tech to understand animal distribution & ecology.

As a city kid, I am grateful to my parents for driving me to local national parks every summer, which is where I realised I wanted a career in ecology. In my spare time, I enjoy birding, snorkelling in the ocean and canoeing.
