I’m Arzucan Askin!
I am an interdisciplinary conservation scientist and graduate student at the University of Oxford where my research focuses on the impacts of human activities on the behaviour of marine megafauna.
I’m Ziad Rashed!
My name is Ziad Rashed and I'm a Ph.D. student at the Georgia Institute of Technology. I was born in Giza, Egypt but received most of my education in the United States. My research focuses on ice-ocean interactions with a focus on calving and ice-mélange and their associated feedbacks which inform projections of sea level rise!
I’m Arthi Ramachandran!
I received my BSc in Biology and went on to pursue a PhD in Microbial Ecology, both at Concordia University. During my graduate studies, I am focusing on Arctic ecosystems, which gave me the opportunity to conduct research in the Arctic Ocean both on CCGS Louis S. St.-Laurent, Canada’s largest icebreaker, and at the Canadian High Arctic Research Station in Nunavut.
I’m Shital Godad!
I am a Paleoceanographer, working on tiny marine organisms which are fossilized in the sediment. My work has given me opportunity to work from Equatorial region to Polar region (Arctic).
I’m Sarah Shakil!
My name is Sarah Shakil. I was born in Pakistan but spent most of my life growing up in the Greater Toronto Area in Ontario, Canada, on the traditional territories of the Wendat, the Haudenosaunee, and the Anishinaabe Peoples. I am currently a PhD candidate at the Tank lab at the University of Alberta.
I’m Stephanie Lim!
I am a biological oceanographer and am currently in the 3rd year of my PhD at Stanford University (@StanfordEarth). I study single-celled algae that grow in the sea ice and in the waters of the Arctic Ocean. I'm working on a couple of different projects to understand how algae are responding to climate change: some questions surround the carbon and nitrogen cycles, toxic algal blooms, and sea ice loss.
I’m Taneil Uttal!
I am a senior research scientist and have worked for NOAA for almost 40 years. My work entails doing field work and establishing Arctic observing systems to understand the processes driving Arctic change.
I’m Meghana Ranganathan!
I'm Meghana Ranganathan, and I'm a graduate student at MIT. I'm interested in fast-flowing glaciers in West Antarctica, in hopes of one day improving our ability to predict how much ice Antarctica will lose due to climate change.
I’m Lavenia Ratnarajah!
I am an International Project Officer for the Global Ocean Observing System and an honorary researcher at the University of Liverpool.
I’m Jackson Osborn!
I am currently an Engineer for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Physical Sciences Laboratory. I design and develop environmental measurement instrumentation to measure physical properties of the Earth System and deploy instruments to the field.
I’m Amber Wendler!
Amber Wendler is currently a PhD student studying tropical birds, but prior to this she interned with the U.S. Forest Service in Alaska where she conducted research on Arctic Terns.
George W. Gibbs, Jr.
George W. Gibbs Jr. was a Navy Mess Attendant, Gunner, Chief Petty Officer, civil rights activist, business leader, husband and father, and the first Black person to set foot in Antarctica.
I’m Shannon Harewood-Malone!
I’m a keen glaciologist with a focus on ice dynamics, currently enrolled in the University of Sheffield Geography Polar and Alpine Change course.
I’m TJ Young!
My name is TJ Young and I am a postdoc at Cambridge University and the Scott Polar Research Institute using radar to assess the stability of Thwaites Glacier in Antarctica.
I’m Bea Recinos!
I’m Bea from El Salvador, about to finally submit my PhD thesis on large scale glacier modeling, implementing a calving parameterization in Open Global Glacier Model.
I'm Melinda Odum!
I'm Melinda Odum, a civil engineer with love for the sea. I visited Antarctica as part of the team delivering the new wharf. I have an MSc in Environmental Coastal Engineering from the University of Southampton & a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of the West Indies.
I’m Tina Rai!
My name is Tina Rai and I completed my master's degree in Ecology from ITPCAS in China. My research was based on bacterial community composition in glacial surface snow of the southern Tibetan Plateau.
I’m Ella Henry!
I'm a second year undergrad at the Department of Zoology at Cambridge University.
I’m Jackie Goordial!
I am a polar microbiologist and Assistant Professor at the University of Guelph. My work has taken me to the Canadian High Arctic and the McMurdo Dry Valleys (and in between!).
